The speed of our love

For me the word ‘now’ reveals a real urgency. It’s a word that we say quickly as if we were too impatient to find an other one. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, it’s just the way it is.

‘now’ everything goes by very fast. I need to slow down. The music I listen to is a collage, in the purest sense of the word. My music is a blend of music loops, put one after the other, remixed… and in different styles.

I chose the song “I’ve got Your Number” by Passion Pit. It’s everything at once: a sweet melody illuminated by a certain urgency. ‘now’ doesn’t have to make a distinction between the genres and the styles.

Passion Pit is a band from Boston. They’ve generated a certain buzz online for about a year but they’re only just arriving in France. I like their freshness and ingenuousness. They’re very ‘now’ because they take it easy, they’re not trying to fit in and to be fashionable (or not).

“I’ve Got You’re Number” is a love song, the story of reconquering a lost love. The girl doesn’t have a choice. And I have to admit that if someone was to write such a song for me, I would not have to think twice about it and would fall in love all over again.

The sound of Passion Pit is ‘now’ because they represent our time, they’re fresh, the perfect remedy to the credit-crunch, and they are deliciously and generously self-centered.

Le mot “now” a une connotation d’urgence pour moi. On a vite fait de le dire très vite, ça peut traduire une certaine impatience. Pas forcement négatif.

Tout va très vite “now”.

J’ai besoin de ralentir. Ma musique maintenant ressemble plus à un collage, au sens propre du terme, c’est à dire à un mélange de plusieurs “boucles”, mises bout à bout, mixées… et dans un collage de style. J’ai choisi le titre “I’ve got Your Number” de Passion Pit. C’est tout à la fois :  une douce mélodie teintée d’urgence. “now” n’a pas à faire de mélange dans les genres, les styles.

Passion Pit est un groupe basé à Boston. ils bénéficient d’un buzz sur internet depuis presque 1 an maintenant, mais ils viennent seulement de débarquer en France. Ce que j’aime chez eux c’est leur fraîcheur. ils sont très actuels parce qu’ils ne se prennent pas la tête, ils ne cherchent pas à savoir si c’est in ou non.

“I’ve Got You’re Number” est une chanson d’amour, une reconquête. La fille n’a pas le choix. Même moi, si on m’écrivait une chanson pareille je ne réfléchirais pas, je retomberai probablement amoureuse.

Le son de Passion Pit est “now” parce pour moi ils représentent notre époque, frais, anti crise, un égoïsme généreux.
