This summer I had good fun with my ‘new toy’: a waterproof case for my compact camera. It was good to discover new options of taking pictures, is like a different way to see the world.

I was amazed of what I could see in the water but I couldn’t miss what was going on outside. So I did a big collection of semi-subaquatic photos like this one. It’s called “Surface lovers”.

Even simple things, when you see them on a different point of view they can look better and surprise you more. I think is great showing your own way of life, that’s why I like Different views.

Sense & Sensibility

aigua=Vida (water=life) by Nuri Seguí.

As I said in a previous post, a good photography for me is more than a beautiful image. I need to see something else in it, some meaning. Usualy is not easy to find the right way to comunicate or to express some sense in your pictures. But when you see photos that do so, and they even reveal feelings is when I think that the photographer becomes an Artist.

Today’s picture was taken by Nuri Segui, a friend of mine. She is a young photographer (25) from Menorca (Spain). I’ve never met someone with such a capability of expression. Her style is simple and clear, and her pictures are an open window to her inner feelings. Check out her photoblog, and enjoy a good dose of art full of Sense and Sensibility.

Nostalgic

No doubt about how digital technologies improved so much the art of taking photos. I enjoy now all the process and how fast I get the results. This helps so much.

Now it’s easier to practice and discover new ways of photography, new color treatments or different lightnings. But… when it comes to b/w I still feel some kind of nostalgia of those darkroom sessions, joyful ‘red light’ moments on a sunday afternoon, listening music and having a good time while waiting for results.

Although this picture I present today is a digital file, it reminds me a lot all that film period, it makes me feel Nostalgic.

“I don’t want anyone to appreciate the light or the palette of tones.
I want my pictures to inform, to provoke discussion – and to raise money”.
This are the first words you can read if you enter my website. It was said once by Sebastiao Salgado , wich is probably my favourite comtemporary photographer. It tells exactly what I think about how a good photo should be.
Sometimes we care too much about cameras, lenses, computers or software and we forget about the real meaning of the image. You don’t need always a beatiful landmark, a perfect lightning or a stunning model to create a good photo.
Don’t you agree?

Hello everyone from This is Now. To start my first post, as I’m new on the house, let me please introduce myself. I’m a freelance photographer, from the island of Menorca (Spain) where I was born 39 years ago. Photography is my hobby, my job and my passion since I was very young.

“Meeting Point” is the first picture I posted in my daily photoblog “La Foto del Dia”, it’s an invitation to the world to participate. For me, Photoblogging is nowadays the best way to enjoy this marvellous art, showing your pictures or watching and learning from the rest of the world, through your screen.

See you soon…
