Twist and shout

10th July 2009 by Melina

A while ago Violette wrote a post about ‘Where the wild things are’. I’m definitely as excited as she is about the film, I can’t wait for it to be screened in the cinemas.

However, today I wanted to highlight the great song in the trailer: Arcade Fire – Wake Up, rather than the movie itself. The song is amazing, but what’s even better is that I had a ‘now’ moment with it just a couple weeks ago. I was at a party, me and my friend stood in her living room, whilst the rest of the party people where outside on her terrace. ’Wake up’ sounded from the speakers and we started to dance like crazy. It probably looked very ridiculous, two girls jumping and twisting in an empty living room. However, it was one of those moments when not much else exists for a couple of minutes – only you, music and dancing!

Wild Things

Thanks to Dave and Jon from HeyUGuys who guest-blogged on This is Now a few weeks ago, I discovered the trailer of Spike Jonze’s new movie Where the Wild Things Are. I know I’ve already mentioned this on the This is Now Twitter but the trailer is so good I thought it deserved a new blog post entirely.

Where the Wild Things Are is a famous children’s picture book by Maurice Sendak which tells the adventure of a young boy named Max, punished and sent to bed without supper. Angry and frustrated Max creates an imaginary world of wild creatures who eventually crown him king.

I obviously have no idea if the movie will be any good, but all I can say is that Spike Jonze, famous for his music videos, created a beautiful trailer. The song Wake Up by the Canadian band Arcade Fire conveys an incredible sense of rythm, giving the viewer the impression to be right in the middle of the story.
